2009 Rampathon King County Media Ramp

May 6th, 2009

As I mentioned previously I would be taking pictures at some of the ramps built during Rampathon on May 16 as part of the Master Builders Association Care Foundation event.

Before all the ramps are built on the 16th two ramps are built to help draw media attention to the event. The first ramp was for King County and was built in the Greenwood neighborhood. The ramp was constructed by Irons Brothers Construction. I have photographed several of Irons Brothers remodeling projects and they always do a great job.

The event was well attended with photographers from a marketing firm, the Seattle Times and the Ballard News Tribune as well as video shot by Komo 4 News.

The weather could have been worse. There was a light to moderate drizzle the entire time, but it didn’t dampen the spirits.

Here are a few other shots from the event.

Rampathon 2009

May 5th, 2009

For a number of years now the Master Builders Association Care Foundation has been building wheel-chair ramps for people in need. They call it Rampathon.

Each year they get many more requests than they can handle. They have been holding Rampathon since 1993 and have built over 200 ramps. Last year I took pictures at several ramp locations and will be doing so again this year.

Rampathon is one of the 100 community service projects that the MBA is dedicated to completing to commemorate their 100 year anniversary.

For one of their marketing pieces they chose to include a picture I took from the 2008 Rampathon. My picture is in the middle.

Rampathon for 2009 happens on May 16.

New updates to the website

April 23rd, 2009

I’ve always like the way that the open source lightbox code displays images. There are a lot of sites out there using the code, and others that use variants. I had some things I didn’t like about the original, but came across the floatbox implementation a little while ago. It improves upon the original and made changes which addressed all my needs.

Click on one of the thumbnails above to see what floatbox does. I have integrated the functionality into my website, so you can check it out in all my portfolio galleries.

About This Blog

May 20th, 2006

Welcome to Scott Chytil Photography.

In this blog I will be writing about general photographic topics as well as what it’s like being a photographer in this new age of digital technology. I hope you find the topics insightful and useful.

First a little about who I am.

Before I started a photography career I worked at Microsoft for 12 years. Part of my time was spent in the product support group where I got to know the inside of a computer very well. I also learned how to troubleshoot computer and software related issues.

My second job at Microsoft was writing Visual Basic programs for a team that designed and created some of the first and most popular websites at Microsoft. My programs were used internally to enhance productivity and transform and transfer data between various systems the team relied on.

After having enough of Microsoft I went back to school to learn more about photography. I had always been interested in photography and kept wondering how I could do more with it. I attended and graduated from The Art Institute of Seattle’s Commercial Photography program.

And here I am. I do architectural and advertising photography with special interests ranging from pinhole photography to alternative processes.

Again I hope you enjoy the content and I look forward to any comments you might have.
